We as DMs can sometimes stifle the players’ creativity. Don’t let that be you! Just say yes! ________________________________________________________________ Like My Facebook Page For No Reason:

Exactly the way I handle the situation too. I have it so if the players do over 1/2 the target’s HP in one attack, they can choose an effect from the critical hit table.Effects include bleeding, sundered armor, etc. Like you said, the player gets to do something cool, but they didnt one shot the enemy.

Sup players DM I question for you. How do you feel about A DM playing favorites.

Depends on what level your party was, but I’m inclined to agree with Adam Mercer. +5 sounds like alot, I’d probably do an extra 1d6 of fire damage (or you could do +1 or +2 as Adam said).

But!!! Even if you did give them +5 and it turned out to be too much, once the swords cooled off, the bonus was gone right? So the characters had the advantage for one battle, no harm no foul. You did the right thing by allowing your players to be creative, that’s the important part :)

Yes he does but he doesnt have a girlfriend/wife, he just has a friend. Every thing his friend ask for he gets. He always seem to pass all of his checks (if he doesnt fumble) which are always simple, while my friend and I have to work like hell to do simple things.

Besides the fact that it sucks lol? I have to be honest, I dont have any experience with the subject. From what I hear it happens alot when one of the players is the girlfriend/wife of the DM, but that just from what Ive heard. Is the DM playing favorites in your game now?
